Start the 5 Minute Challenge TODAY! A great way to have an effective, productive year is by making your relationship with God a priority. Too often I find myself (confession time) coming home form a long, difficult day and the last thing I want to do is think, much less read. Sadly there are times my Bible reading suffers due to this. This is simply a failure to make God’s Word the priority it needs to be in my life. Think of it this way, when I get hungry physically I eat, I meet the need. When God’s Word is not a priority in my life I get hungry, I am starving myself spiritually and don’t even know it. It’s not like spending time with God it difficult, but making the time is. How hard is it to read a few chapters or a few verses everyday? Is it really difficult to talk to our Heavenly Father? Spending time together is how we develop healthy relationships with each other. Let’s start developing and strengthening healthy, individual relationships with God. This is a challenge to you personally! Start this week, take 5 minutes, read the Bible for 3 and a half minutes and then pray for the rest of the time (a minute and a half). Try that every day for 5 days, then for 10 then 15 and then 20. I’ve heard it said that if you do anything 20 times in a row it becomes a habit! Once you've gotten into the habit you might just surprise yourself and spend more than 5 minutes with God every day! You can do it! Be warned, the Devil will fight you on this! But I need it, you need it! Let’s eat!!
THE 5 MINUTE CHALLENGE:
Today I will:
Read God’s Word! Make time to read God’s Word every day! What will you read today?
Receive God’s Word! Meditate on what you’ve read! What did God’s Word speak to you about today?
Resolve to act upon God’s Word! Let God’s Word change you! Ask: “How can I resolve to obey God’s Word today?”
